Arizona – Get Your Shit Together

So yesterday was the presidential preference election here in Arizona.

Now let me say first that this did not personally affect me since I live in a smaller county and my polling place is literally a 5-minute walk from my house. That’s neither here nor there though as I am on the permanent early voting list and Mail everything in or just drop off the completed ballot on Election Day.
But, for those who were stuck in that mess for hours just to execute their God given right to vote is embarrassing. The number of registered voters went up this year in Maricopa County, and yet Helen Percel decided to reduce the number of polling places in Maricopa County.
Another embarrassing moment was was when Republican and Democrat voters who have been registered so for years were told that the system didn’t recognize them or recognized them as Independent and that they either could not vote at all or they had to vote using a provisional ballot. Which let’s face it, is not going to be counted.
In an interview last night Hellen Percel had the gall to blame the issues on the voters standing in line. THE VOTERS! When that didn’t work she turned to blaming the DMV, saying that when people filled out the forms they either didn’t check the box for a specific party which defaults to Independent or that there was a glitch in the system causing the party confusion. She then refused to resign.
The way things are done here needs to be completely revamped. In a day and age where there are so many other issues, voting should not be something that we have to worry about.
