St. Patrick’s Day 2020 Another St. Patrick’s Day has come around. Christopher called to say hello and let us know how he’s getting on. Air Force life seems to suit him well. He’s going out with some friends tonight to celebrate. Although I did have to remind him that he wasn’t Irish. Couldn’t help but giving him a hard time. Tony’s driving now and wanted to spend time with friends as well. He’s a new driver and things get crazy on days like this, so his dad took him over and I’ll pick him up in the morning. So that leaves the hubs and I.Read More →

Some think I am boring. Some think I am bold by following my dreams. Some think I am downright nuts for doing what I do (writing) and doing online school with my youngest. You know what I say to them? Mind your own damn business! No matter who you talk to, no matter what their opinion of me and my family, it will differ from the next person who has an opinion. There’s an old saying, “Those who matter don’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter”. That is how I feel about someone who thinks I am far from normal. My family according to most is a typical all-American family with 3.5Read More →

The Correctional Officer stood and faced his God,which must always come to pass.He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.“Step forward now, Correctional Officer. How shall I deal with you?Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?”The Correctional Officer squared his shoulders and said,“No, Lord I guess I aint, because those of us who carry badges cant always be a Saint.I’ve had to work most Sundays, and at times my work was rough, and sometimes I’ve been violent.Because inside the walls are awful tough. But I never took a penny, that wasn’t mine to keep,I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills justRead More →

This year was extremely low key. Spending time with the family, watching football, and of course eating. Hubs cooked Christmas Eve dinner (well the fish part) and my mom cooked a ham (my dad doesnt do fish if he can help it). Many helpings were had by all. This year we set a reasonable budget for the kids and they each got a larger present instead of many small ones. It was also the first year that “Santa” didnt make an appearance for my youngest son. I have to admit that I’m a little sad when I think about that. The boys are growing upRead More →

{This piece was written for an English assignment many years ago. It is based on what my grandmother went through in her final stages of life}©Cydni Ambrosio Her voice grew hoarse over time as though being taken away from her piece by piece with each slow-burning cigarette. Those exceedingly addictive “pimp sticks” that she just couldn’t shake, took her voice, and also took the picturesque coloration of her smooth skin. In their wake they left a yellowed and extremely wrinkled canvas. Her thin body frames sunken brown eyes that once held hope and admiration and are now shadowed with fear and sadness. She slips intoRead More →

(written for an English class back in 2004) © Cydni Ambrosio Being given the opportunity to be part of an elite unit in Law Enforcement is a proud moment for an officer. They take that step from being a line officer to becoming a part of “The Team.” Their family also takes that step. Being the spouse of a Tactical Support Unit Officer in a correctional facility brings with it a sense of pride as well as an ever-present sense of caution. Our husbands and wives are called in to handle the worst of the worst. Riots, fights, inmate assaults; and all within the confinesRead More →

Today was our weekly bunch date for my husband and I. Generally we go into Coolidge and eat at Tag’s Cafe (which has some super happy memories for me) and that is where we went today. We have been here for about three years and have eaten there once a week for the most part. Until today I never asked the owner if she knew my family. That changed today. Come to find out her and her  husband do know my relatives who have a farm down here. To some that is boring and “who cares” information. To me that’s awesome. I have been tryingRead More →

Well, I am officially old. At least I feel that way. I have two kids; one in high school and one in middle school. Tonight is my oldest sons junior prom! I’m super excited for him and I know he’s going to have a good time. He rented an awesome tux, has a cute date and is going with friends. That however, does not make me feel any better about the fact that I have a kid old enough to be attending the junior prom. 😉 It seems like just yesterday he was crying becuase he had to go to preschool. Where does the timeRead More →
