It all started when I met my husband; my obsession with S’mores and the fact that he had NEVER had one. I mean seriously? NEVER?! When he told me that I was seriously shocked. How can you grow up in the USA and not know the amazing taste of a S’more?
It was a travesty and I had to fix it. Fix it I did. It only took me 14 years together to get him to eat one. He didn’t share my excitement for them and he definitely did not want another one; EVER.
A little bit about my husband to set the backstory. My husband grew up in a very traditional Italian family in New York. When he was younger they had Italian Anise Cookies, Tiramisu, Biscotti, Neapolitans, Cannoli Cake, Neapolitan Honey Balls, Cheesecake, and of course Gelato. But no S’mores. If it was traditional Italian food or dessert he had it. Anything else was questionable in his mind.
When we first got together the topic of favorite foods came up and I mentioned that one of mine growing up was S’mores. You should have seen the look on my face when he said he had never had one. That was 14 years ago. It took me until this past Thanksgiving to get him to try one, and if my youngest Tony hadn’t suggested it I don’t think the hubs would have ever been exposed to them.
He didn’t like them. ☹️
Being the persistent person that I am, I’m trying again. This time in cupcake form. An experiment if you will.
Here are some pictures from my morning of baking.
I also highly recommend making sure you have frosting on hand. I did not so they are cooling while I run to the store.
The frosting didn’t happen. My kids didn’t care so I left them as they were. More like S’mores muffins. 😉
END RESULT: My kids like them, my husband still doesn’t like S’mores. I also have a buttload of cupcake/muffins and I’m running out of counter space and tupperware to hold it all.
