Two Isn’t Always Better

I love mirrors, just not mirroring.

I have been keeping up my WordPress blog for years, though it has gone through quite a few rebranding stages. I have also had a Medium blog for a while and have been mirroring the content from my WordPress site so I had a presence on both platforms. I figured different strokes for different folks and I didn’t want to miss out on anything that would help get my work out there as a new author. This was quite simple with the blogging app that I was using (and may go back to in the future depending on what the company does). I could write a post for WordPress and it would mirror it immediately to Medium for me. I don’t know how they did it, but there was no jumping over to the website to complete the publishing process. It jus happened.

Well, in recent months the app that I feel in love with a couple years ago underwent some major staffing changes (I’m not naming the app because I’m sill hoping that they are going to turn things around and want to give them a fair shake before I promote or blast). So far the changes have not been great for the end users and there has been radio silence. This has prompted me to shift to a different app for my blog posts. I actually love it but the mirroring capability is not present so it’s taking me twice as long to write and publish.

Since blogging is supposed to be fun in my opinion, and double posting is not fun, I am dropping back to only posting on WordPress for the foreseeable future. I have more followers over there and quite frankly they are more engaged. Now don’t get me wrong, I do have a few dear followers over on Medium that are great at sharing content. It’s just not getting the exposure that I thought it would. So rather than cater to absolutely every reader on the planet I want to concentrate on better quality posts, which I know I will only do if I bring the fun back into my writing on the blog.

I will be leaving this as the last post on Medium for a while so people who do stumble across my content there know where to find recent stuff. I’m not sure when and if I will start mirroring posts again. Only time will tell. I’m still quite interested in how Medium is growing, and who knows, it may turn out to be a better platform for me in the future. But for now, if you enjoy what I post you can find it over at …

Miso Called Life

I hope to see you over there if you are reading this on Medium. If you are reading this on WordPress then you are already good to go. As always, thank you for taking the time to read my posts.

P.S. If you got my featured image right away, we could totally be friends IRL.
