AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT - FAYE HALL

Sayre: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

FH: I fully committed to it at high school when my English teacher told me everything I wrote wasn't good enough.

Sayre: How long does it take you to write a book?

FH: I have 5 school age children so the time varies from a few weeks to several months.

Sayre: Does writing energize or exhaust you?

FH: It honestly depends on what part I'm writing. I find beginnings quite boring, but time just seems to fly when I'm writing conflict between characters.

Sayre: What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

FH: Sounds weird but I ask my characters what they are going to do next.

Sayre: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

FH: Information comes from local history books. Ideas usually come from songs.

Sayre: When did you write your first book and how old were you?

FH: First full length book was written about age 15. It was a fan fiction version of the movie Reckless.

Sayre: What do you like to do when you're not writing?

FH: A glass or two of wine with my husband whilst pottering around our garden, or cooking with our kids.

Sayre: Do you have any suggestions to help others become better writers? If so, what are they?

FH: Write to please yourself as you will never be able to keep everyone else happy.

Sayre: What is your writing Kryptonite?

FH: Constant interruptions.

Sayre: Are you friends with other authors? If so, how do they help you become a better writer?

FH: I like the encouragement of writers I've met online and the advise they give me.

Sayre: How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?

FH: I learnt just how much went into editing. It was after that I did a course in editing and proofreading.

Sayre: Whats your favorite under-appreciated novel?

FH: Anything from Agatha Christie.

Sayre: Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?

FH: Yes! There are character names and place names.

Sayre: What does literary success look like to you?

FH: Having a reader tell me how much they enjoyed something I wrote.

Sayre: Do you have any events or special things coming up?

FH: I have some books being re-released soon, and a new release hopefully by the end of the year. If you would like to stay up to date on releases and other things you can connect with me on social media and/or keep an eye on my website.
