CAMP SO FAR
Aren’t you a little old for camp?
Someone actually said that to me the other day when they heard my answer for what my plans were for the weekend.
Well…… yes and no.
Traditional sleep-away camp with all the good stuff that comes with it?
Probably a bit too old.
For Camp NaNoWriMo?
HELL NO! It’s day three and I’m having a blast!
So, what is Camp NaNoWriMo?
It’s a virtual camp that is held twice a year in preparation for NaNoWriMo in November.
During camp writers/authors from all over the globe have the opportunity to set their own writing goals, join virtual cabins, and write to their heart's content.
But I can write at any time of the year……
Yes, you can.
But DO you?
I know that although I write off and on through the rest of the year I was looking forward to Camp. I set a goal and let all my friends and family know that I was participating. I declared it as time for me. Time to hone my skills. Time to make new friends.
I set a relatively low word count goal of 10,000 words for the month and so far I’m sticking to what I need to write daily to reach that goal. This is my first year participating in the event and I wasn’t sure what to expect. The excitement is contagious and the support is amazing.
Between the forums, Twitter, and other social media everywhere I look there is something new being posted or some new form of support that I didn’t know was out there.
If you would like to know more about it check out www.nanowrimo.org and from there you can get to the Camp page.
I hope you’ll check it out. I know that once I did, I was hooked. I’m already planning to do the Camp in July and then the big one in November.
